To prevent printer breakdown and to extend it's life, you need to conduct regular DIY service and maintenance. Keep your printer exterior clean from dust by using a wet then dry cloth, and you can clean the interior parts such as the ribbon (an integral component of the inkjet printer); printhead; cartridge housing and more by using an anti-static (dust free) cloth and printhead cleaning liquid. Before you start cleaning, read your printer's cleaning/ maintenance instructions and unplug it from power.
